Because there’s more to a logo than looking pretty. Here’s why every Cake Blog or Biz needs a logo (yes, that includes yours!)
The first thing I did when I started my blog was to have a logo designed. For me, it always felt like a core part of my blog’s identity and I wanted to build my brand around it. The colours and image selected for my logo (blue and orange) have become the colours which make my brand and content recognisable.
Having a professional-looking logo from the start made a huge difference to the way people reacted to my blog. It is a building block to blogging success.
My blog looked smart and sophisticated, as well as pretty. This meant that the content I wrote and the recipes I shared came across with the same level of professionalism, helping me to become an authority in my niche, which, let’s face it, is what aspiring and seasoned bloggers and business owners alike.

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Why should you have a logo for your blog or biz?
- Make yourself recognisable
Having a logo makes you recognisable, just like having a profile photo does on Facebook. At a glance, your logo separates you from countless other bloggers and businesses present on the internet or social media. You want to stand out.As a blogger or biz owner, you’re no stranger to the fact that the internet is saturated with other blogs and businesses, so make sure your logo allows yours to stand out. It’s also a great addition to business cards, letter heads, and email signatures to add the professional touch. My blog is based around the colours blue and orange. Because of this, when people see my Pinterest graphics (designed by The Ardour Creative) they already know that it will come from me, from Knead to Dough.
- Creates a memorable and valuable relationship between your brand and your reader/customerIf you’re in a supermarket and you see three types of peanut butter, which one are you going to buy? Personally, I would usually opt for the brand I already knew (Sunpat, if you’re wondering!). Failing that, I’d choose the cheapest. But the third option peanut butter of the brand I’ve never heard of? It wouldn’t get a look in.Your blog or biz is just the same as peanut butter to potential readers and clients.Let’s assume that you’re not positioning yourself as the cheapest option in the field. Instead, you’re revealing your expertise in your blogging or business niche through valuable, actionable content (be that recipes, how-to posts, or more).Couple that with an effective logo, and you have a solid brand identity supporting your content and your offerings every step of the way. Your brand will get noticed and become familiar through your blog and social media channels when you engage with your readers. It will become the brand they know, because your logo allows them to remember you and the fact that they trust your content. This kind of relationship is invaluable. It helps you to become a go-to resource in your niche and the trust and familiarity makes it easier for your readers to trust your paid offerings in future, too. Who knew a logo could do so much?
- A professional finish gets you taken seriouslySo you’ve been creating kick-ass content consistently, built an engaged tribe of readers, and are taking your blog to the next level. Whether that means monetizing, approaching brands for sponsored posts, or approaching bigger blogs within your niche to secure that all-important guest post, your blog design needs to reflect the quality of your content. The chances are that the first thing that a brand or blog will do when deciding whether to work with you is to check your blog out. It’s bit of a no brainer, really. When they arrive at your site, their first impression will be guided by your design – most probably your blog or biz logo or header at the top of the page and not the amazing content you’ve already shared.Make sure your logo gives the professional impression your blog or biz deserves so that these brands and businesses will take you and your offerings seriously.
Your Blog or Biz deserves success. Having a professional looking logo is a small but powerful step to creating the right impression with readers, clients, and brands alike.
