Why I decided to invest in online training to grow my cake website
When I first launched Knead to Dough, I was a full time student working a part time job. I didn’t have an endless budget to invest into growing my website or learning how to blog, market and network more effectively. Sound familiar?
When setting up your cake business, you’ve already invested in equipment and ingredients. You don’t want to spend money if you don’t have to, especially while you’re still building up your customer base.
But you still want results. You want your cake business social media and website to grow and grow quickly. You want to reach more customers and secure more sales, more easily.
So did I. The tough truth? It’s wishful thinking.
You can spend hours researching on Google and reading blog post after blog post about X, Y, or Z to do with growing your baking business. Most of them will help you in some way, but eventually you’ll find yourself reading the same things you’re your growth won’t be getting any faster.
That’s because the people with the answers to grow your cake business fastest, most effectively and with lasting results won’t give all their information away for free – myself included. On Knead to Dough, I share in-depth, step-by-step guides and help for you to use social media and blogging to grow your cake business, but I don’t tell you absolutely everything I know. I save the crème de la crème of advice for the cake businesses I coach and the cake biz owners who enrol in my online course (opening for pre-sale on 15th August).
Investing in online training to grow your cake business – assuming you choose training that is relevant to your business goals and provided by someone who actually knows what they’re talking about – can help you grow your cake business faster because you’ll be getting the best advice and strategies, tested and proven to work.
Instead of seeing it as spending money when you don’t need to, see it as investing in the future success of your cake business. You went on a cake decorating course before opening up your cupcakery, so why not take an online course to learn how to market those cake decorating skills better? It is money that you should earn back and then some if you put what you’ve learned into action and see the strategies through effectively.
When I invested in online training to grow my cake website, Knead to Dough, my page views started to grow much more quickly, reaching 25,000+ per month. Facebook became my biggest referrer, but I was also getting plenty of traffic from Google, Pinterest and Twitter, too. Before that, I had spent 6 months using online resources to grow Knead to Dough. They did work, I went from nothing to 4,000 page views, but that wasn’t enough to bring me significant business. Now, I qualify for many advertising sites and have a large, dedicated and engaged audience, making Knead to Dough highly valuable for collaborations. I invested around £120 altogether across two courses and one month’s membership to another site and the results were worth every penny.
So tell me, would you invest in an online training to grow your cake website and business? If not, what’s holding you back?
